Designing Our New Online Business Reef AskAJeeper

So now comes the fun part or in this case the most time consuming part. We are setting up and designing our example of our new Online Business Reef. We love the online business that allows us to have tangible products and live in the world of commodities. It is exciting and quicker to earn an income.

We have found that building passive income is great but in order to get to one certain income point you have to do a lot of work, and have some luck. In the beginning the time to a competent income stream can be a lot longer with products, but in the long run you may have to work more with a non-passive income stream. We try and do a little of one and a lot of another this allows us to build an income stream I am more accustomed to and like to share. So read on and see just how we do it.

FIRST OF A LITTLE MORE OF THE SETUP

Before we get into the designing of the website we want to take a few words to share some of the setup parameters of the online business so you can get an idea of how it is done.

  1. First we put this under our LLC which is a Limited Liability Company in the State of Utah.
  2. With this type of business entity we are responsible for any profits or losses and they come off of our taxes as pass through income.
  3. With our business we have a checking account, phone number, virtual office, and we use quick-books for our accounting system.

Next we made a very quick plan on how we wanted to proceed with our website. We jotted this plan down and began to do the design work on the site. Here are a few of the things we put down in our plan.

  1. First we developed a menu structure which was the basis of our site. This is an information site an we wanted to make sure that it is very accessible within 1-2 clicks.
  2. Second we outlined a picture gallery and Pinterest collaboration to showcase all kinds of Jeeps.
  3. Our customer base are all Jeep users and owners, and our product is information. Our initial plan after the design is to product as much information as possible in order to increase traffic by writing relevant articles.
NEXT WE BEGIN THE DESIGN OF THE SITE

First we developed an image guide so that all of our images were uniform and the site had the same look. We did not publish the guide but saved it as a draft so we would always have access to it.

We picked the Tempera theme which is a free theme we downloaded on WordPress. So far it has worked well as a free theme for an information based website. We downloaded and activated our standard plugins and began to build the menu structure.

AskAJeeper Menu Structure

We based the menu structure based on the models of the Jeep. From there we break each section into news, photos, videos, tech, learn, and ask a question.

We put in a website terms and conditions page, and a blog roll. Next we will put the final pages, categories in for a full website. Once this is done we will report back with the next phase which will be adding content.
